Position Description:

The Senior Manager, Donor Experience will join a highly successful team at a key time of growth and will be a contributing part of the department responsible for the major gift activities of William Osler Health System Foundation (the Foundation). 

Reporting to the Director, Major Gifts and Campaigns, the Senior Manager, Donor Experience will embrace an exciting opportunity to design and lead a comprehensive donor recognition and stewardship program for the Foundation – creating outstanding experiences for our donors through recognition, engagement and impact to inspire donors and drive support.  The incumbent will think and act creatively to bring meaningful opportunities to engage donors in our mission, using their demonstrated experience in donor relations and communications, strong commitment to innovation and keen understanding of industry trends to make the Osler Foundation a leader in donor growth and retention.

This role will focus on customized stewardship plans for major gift donors as well as stewardship activities and programs for signature event sponsors, grateful patients, third party events, planned giving donors, and monthly and mid-level donors.

A strong commitment to donor-centred fundraising, vision for the big picture, attention to detail, and exceptional ability to anticipate and resolve problems will be critical in this role.

As the Senior Manager, Donor Experience, you will: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive donor relations and stewardship framework that embraces and elevates all donor segments;
  • Develop and execute strategic donor stewardship and cultivation events/ digital opportunities that provide meaningful engagement opportunities for donors and volunteers and attract new prospective donors as the Foundation builds to its next capital campaign;
  • Lead logistics for cultivation and stewardship events;
  • Support the development of and coordinate the logistics of major gift donor communications including naming opportunity proposals, stewardship reports, and recognition certificates;
  • Drive collaboration with colleagues to create compelling collateral for donor and volunteer cultivation and stewardship, ensuring they receive professional and timely information regarding the impact of their support;
  • Monitor and ensure that all obligations outlined in donor agreements are fulfilled in a timely manner and tracked in RE, with specific emphasis on Major Gift Donors and signature event sponsors;
  • Act as the internal voice of our donors by considering their perspective in all that we do;
  • Remain abreast of industry best practices through participation in peer groups, and professional development;
  • Embrace the unique and exciting opportunities of working with donors and stakeholders in one of the most culturally-rich and ethnically-diverse regions in Canada;
  • Effectively track activity in Raiser’s Edge donor database;
  • Actively work to enhance and grow positive relationships with all departments within the organization;
  • Be highly effective at working independently and exceptional at being a team player, with a proactive approach and a strong commitment to success; 
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Attend and assist at functions held in the community and organized by the Foundation as required; 
  • Commit to the Mission of William Osler Health System (Osler) and the Foundation; 
  • Be committed to life-long learning and professional development; 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • University degree (preferably in fundraising management, marketing, or business administration), or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • A recognized fundraising certification or CFRE designation would be an asset;
  • Minimum of five years recent related experience with building and delivering innovative and highly effective donor engagement vehicles and programs; 
  • Demonstrated experience in a Major Gifts / Capital Campaign fundraising environment, and an understanding of health care fundraising is preferred; 
  • Ability to communicate the vision and key messages of William Osler Health System Foundation to the community; 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; 
  • Demonstrated professional style that is proactive, innovative and collaborative; 
  • Demonstrated excellence in communications, relationship building, teamwork and problem-solving; 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, through various mediums (I.e., email, phone, video conference calls, and in person);
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database and InDesign considered an asset;
  • Access to reliable transportation required.

The WOHS Foundation offers a comprehensive benefits package including a defined-benefit pension plan (HOOP), outstanding health/dental benefits and generous vacation allowance. The target range for this position is $75,000-$85,000 with some flexibility based on experience and qualifications. 

The WOHS Foundation is working remotely during the pandemic, with an eventual hybrid model of working from home and in-office on a weekly basis.
