About the National Arts Centre Foundation
The National Arts Centre Foundation raises funds to support the National Arts Centre’s (NAC) work in performance, creation, and learning across Canada. Founded in 2000 as a separate legal entity, the Foundation has raised over $170 million to date and is currently in a $100M comprehensive campaign to support the revitalization of the performing arts across the country. With a staff team of 18, along with an active Board of Directors and Campaign Cabinet, the Foundation has a donor base of over 6,000 and raises $7M-$10M annually. Position Overview
The National Arts Centre Foundation is seeking a Specialist, Corporate & Foundation Giving to join the Major Gifts team. This position is at the forefront of impactful change in the arts. The National Arts Centre Foundation understands that not everyone has had the opportunity to cultivate all the skills and experience required to fulfill the responsibilities of this role. Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of 100-125 relationships, comprised of existing corporate, foundational, and individual relationships; with a strong focus on developing new relationships and partnership.
- sIdentify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects to meet annual revenue goals; personally solicit annual and multi-year donations and sponsorships of $25,000 – $100,000+; solicit new corporate sponsors for national events.
- Achieve an annual revenue target and key performance indicators including discovery calls, engagement activities, solicitations and stewardship actions.
- Monitor and analyze trends within the corporate sector; develop and execute strategies to increase corporate sponsorship revenue;
- Collaborate with the CEO, Director of Philanthropy & Campaign and volunteer leaders to strategically advance corporate and foundation relationships
- Collaborate with NAC colleagues to prepare compelling proposals, impact reports and engagement opportunities for our partners
- Prepare letters, proposals, impact reports, gift agreements, pledge reminders, gift acknowledgement letters, briefing materials, and program profiles for both personal approaches, and to support the CEO and senior volunteers.
- Ensure timely donor communications (i.e. gift acknowledgements/thank you letters, invitations) and maintain donor records in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Serve as an ambassador for the NAC Foundation, and support and attend NAC events.
- Other duties as assigned to further the Foundation’s goals.
Required qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of experience with corporate fundraising or sponsorship sales.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with corporations, foundations and individuals.
- Strong written communication in English; bilingualism an asset.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, as well as to work independently to achieve key objectives.
- Knowledge of the corporate sector, as well as the Canadian charitable, philanthropic and not-for-profit sector.
- Proficiency with donor databases (Raiser’s Edge NXT), MS Office and Canva.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; fundraising education an asset.
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally within Canada.
