Starting Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 (commensurate upon related experience and skills)
Position Description
The Specialist, Direct Marketing provides operational support and guidance to WWF-Canada’s direct marketing programs with an emphasis on one-time gifts, monthly giving and donor stewardship. This role works closely with various internal departments and external vendors to ensure on-time, accurate, and effective giving campaigns that support, build, and maintain the WWF-Canada donor base and achieve revenue targets. The Direct Marketing team is responsible for tens of thousands of annual and monthly mass-market donors.
The individual will implement the direct marketing strategy in relation to the acquisition and stewardship of monthly donors, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for supporters. The Specialist will develop and implement strategies to attract new donors, as well as maintain and enhance relationships with existing donors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of comprehensive fundraising campaigns related to one-time and monthly giving, including upgrades, acquisition, reactivation, and retention.
- Develop and implement strategies to cultivate and retain monthly donors, ensuring a personalized and engaging donor experience.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and implement strategic digital marketing initiatives to drive leads and acquisition.
- Provide operational day-to-day support for WWF’s existing initiatives such as direct mail, telemarketing, face-to-face and other traditional activities.
- Monitor and analyze donor behaviour and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
- Troubleshoot and strategize the best approaches to resolving internal and external operational, vendor, and/or campaign issues as they arise.
- Manage new and existing agency relationships, placing WWF-Canada’s priorities at the forefront of all decision making.
- Contribute to routine campaign-level and program-level optimizations that enhance revenue, cut costs, and improve donor retention.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of data strategies in collaboration with other members of the team.
- Work with the Donor Relations team to support customer service and donations processing as it pertains to the portfolio.
- Coordinate estimates, invoices, assist with campaign-specific and monthly/quarterly financial reports, and make recommendations for optimizations based on results.
- Process direct marketing contracts and invoices.
- Assist the Community Giving team, as required, with other related duties (including events), contributing to the mandate and successful operation of the department and organization.
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of experience executing comprehensive annual direct response programs, including one-time and monthly giving programs.
- Related post-secondary education in fundraising management, marketing, event management or similar, OR an additional 2+ years of related work experience in a not-for-profit organization.
- A proven track record in the implementation of direct marketing campaigns using both traditional, digital and emerging channels.
- Ability to set priorities, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Numeracy skills related to budgeting and data interpretation.
- Excellent written, visual and verbal communications skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with external partners/agencies.
- Familiarity with CRA, PIPEDA and CASL guidelines.
- High degree of proficiency working in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Working knowledge and understanding of a CRM.
- Ability to work as a team member, while meeting individual goals and expectations.
- Fluency in French is an asset.
