Associate Director, Development Operations
Established in 1982, PMCF has been setting daring and audacious goals with a mindset that is driven by our culture and passion for the cause. We have pioneered many successful fundraising programs, including our world-leading Princess Margaret Home Lottery, and some of the world’s largest peer-to-peer cancer fundraising events, and have a sophisticated Major & Transformational Gift and Estates & Gift Planning program.
Now, we are seeking a strategic, creative and passionate operational leader to develop, implement and drive strategies that will deepen efficiency; leverage collaboration; and support a diverse team of 30+ fundraising, stewardship and communications professionals in achieving their ambitious goals as we plan a historic, comprehensive fundraising campaign for The Princess Margaret.
Reporting to the Vice President, Major & Transformational Gifts, the Associate Director, Development Operations will serve as a designated operational lead, internal champion and resource for operations and business intelligence across the Major & Estate Giving Team at PMCF, including for transformational ($5M+) giving. The Associate Director will liaise with key counterparts across PMCF to support collaborative and efficient fundraising processes that help elevate achievement and results within the Major & Estate Giving team and across the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Director, Development Operations will focus their time, attention, and efforts in the following areas:
- Work in partnership with the Vice President, Major & Transformational Gifts, Associate Vice President, Estates & Gift Planning and Senior Director, Donor Experience & Stewardship Impact to develop, implement and monitor the impact of a team-wide operational strategy that supports and accelerates major and transformational gift investment, engagement and stewardship at PMCF
- Provide comprehensive operational leadership and fundraising support for all aspects of transformational ($5M+) giving at PMCF, working closely with the Vice President, Major & Transformational Gifts, the Major & Estate Giving team, the Chief Development Officer, the President & CEO and other members of the Senior Leadership Team to identify, develop and drive opportunities
- Collaborate with members of the Major & Estate Giving, Foundation Relations, Granting & Governance and Campaign teams to identify, validate, establish and monitor the performance of fundraising priorities
- Be the designated Major & Estate Giving team lead for business intelligence, reporting and analytics
- Work closely with the Business Intelligence team to create, implement, oversee and monitor reporting that tracks and supports the performance and activity of the Major & Estate Giving team
- In collaboration with the Development Research team, support the design and implementation of sophisticated prospect management strategies that serve to identify and channel major and transformational gift prospects from various sources across PMCF
- In collaboration with the Vice President, Major & Transformational Gifts and the Associate Vice President, Estates & Gift Planning, lead budgeting and forecasting across the Major & Estate Giving team
- Work with the Vice President, Major & Transformational Gifts to provide information requested by the PMCF Board, Senior Leadership Team, committees and key stakeholders to detail approach and achievement
- Provide training for, and ensure adoption and consistent utilization of, new operational processes across the Major & Estate Giving team
- Ensure continuous process development and refinement that drives efficiency and supports a high-performing fundraising team
Qualifications
Below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in progressive leadership roles in fundraising operations
- Experience working in complex healthcare and/or academic environments is preferred
- Experience in supporting transformational ($5M+) gift development is an asset
- A bachelor’s degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience
- Experience with creating and customizing reports to support major and estate gift fundraising activities
- Experience working with Blackbaud CRM or Raiser’s Edge
- Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills, including agility in navigating complex environments
- Experience conceiving, developing and implementing successful strategies for operational efficiency
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders, clinicians, researchers, and other colleagues
