We have pioneered many successful fundraising programs, including our world-leading Princess Margaret Home Lottery, and some of the world’s largest peer-to-peer cancer fundraising events, and have sophisticated Major & Transformational Gift and Estates & Gift Planning programs.

As the PMCF plans a historic, comprehensive fundraising campaign for The Princess Margaret, our high-performing Major & Transformational Giving team is growing, and we are recruiting for three newly-created Development Associate roles. Each Development Associate will work in close partnership with one or more senior, experienced major gift fundraisers, and will provided comprehensive support for their fundraising activities focused at the $100,000 to $1 million+ level.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a nimble ability to collaborate, and will demonstrate strong attention to detail, effective communication, and outstanding relationship-building skills. In this role, the incumbent will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of constituents, including medical leaders, clinician partners, donors and volunteers. Key Accountabilities

The Development Associate, Major Gifts will focus their time, attention, and efforts in the following areas:

  • Organizing complex donor meetings
  • Working with the Strategic Insights and Marketing teams to coordinate complex communications materials, including but not limited to proposals and impact reports, as well as briefing materials
  • Liaising with physicians and other Cancer Centre staff in the preparation of proposals and impact reports
  • Managing the calendar and scheduling for the fundraising lead(s) whom they support
  • Drafting meeting agendas and briefing notes
  • Drafting letters and other correspondence to major gift donors as required
  • Building and maintaining a strong knowledge of the Cancer Centre and related priorities
  • Assisting in the preparation of Donation Agreements
  • Supporting effective prospect management by entering, updating and retrieving information from PMCF’s Blackbaud CRM database
  • Supporting fundraisers in developing and managing their fundraising pipeline
  • Responding to internal and external requests for information from colleagues, Cancer Centre staff, donors and volunteers
  • Providing support for various donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship function

Qualifications

  • A relevant 3-year degree/diploma or an equivalent combination of formal education and relevant experience
  • 1-3 years of experience working in fundraising or administrative coordination/support
  • Proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office products and internet tools
  • Experience with Blackbaud CRM, Raiser’s Edge, or similar fundraising CRM
  • General knowledge of fundraising professional standards and ethics
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Exemplary attention to detail with excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
  • A demonstrated ability to problem solve and handle a diverse range of assignments with multiple timelines
  • Resourceful and self-motivated while remaining comfortable collaborating within a framework of a goal-oriented team environment
  • Possess a professional and mature presence with evidence of leadership, sound judgement, intuition, tact and diplomacy
