NOTE: ACT is currently piloting a work-time reduction (aka four-day work week). Consequently, this position will work 30 hrs./week.
Bargaining Unit / Starting Salary – $52,578 (Category 2, Step 1)
WHO WE ARE
ACT works to reduce new HIV infections in Toronto and promotes the independence, dignity, health and well-being of people living with HIV and those at increased risk of HIV.
ACT does this through a variety of programs and services for women, young people and gay, bi, queer men including one-on-one counselling, psychosocial and social support groups, and harm reduction and outreach services, both online and in community. ACT produces sexual health information campaigns to help priority populations make informed choices about their sexual and mental health and offers a one- of-a-kind employment services program. ACT serves all in the community who are living with or concerned about HIV, with over 60% of people accessing services from Black, Indigenous and other communities of colour.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently looking for a Grants and Impact Coordinator to join our Philanthropy Team and play a key role in securing funding to sustain and expand our programs. This position is essential in securing new grants from foundations and corporations, while also spearheading new fundraising initiatives to positively impact engagement with emerging donor segments.
JOB SUMMARY
The Grants and Impact Coordinator will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s future by securing vital funding through new grant opportunities and driving innovative philanthropic initiatives. Reporting directly to the Director of Philanthropy & Communications, this individual will lead efforts to expand the donor base, launch an exciting impact store for the next generation of supporters, and strategically manage key projects that elevate fundraising efforts. Their expertise will be crucial in building lasting relationships with donors, enhancing outreach strategies, and ensuring the seamless operation of donor management systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Acquisition
- Identify and pursue 5-10 new grant opportunities monthly from foundations and corporate partners, aligning with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy & Communications and Manager of Philanthropy to craft compelling grant proposals and secure funding.
- Monitor grant performance and work with cross-functional teams to maximize revenue and donor engagement.
- Attend relevant networking events and meetings to enhance connections and stay informed about funding trends and opportunities.
- Develop detailed, accurate budgets for grant proposals in collaboration with finance and program managers.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of grant acquisition strategies and processes. Use data and feedback to refine approaches, improve proposal quality, and increase success rates.
New Philanthropic Initiatives
- Work with the Director of Philanthropy and Communications and the Manager of Philanthropy to launch a social enterprise within the fundraising department to support ACT’s work.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to grow the department, including the creation and launch of an impact store targeting younger donors.
- Collaborate with designers, vendors, and stakeholders to curate a range of merchandise that resonates with younger donors. Focus on products that reflect the organization’s mission, values, and the interests of this demographic.
- Create targeted campaigns and initiatives to build awareness and excitement around the impact store. Use creative strategies to engage younger donors, including limited-edition products, exclusive events, and special promotions.
- Identify and cultivate partnerships with brands, influencers, and organizations that align with the values and interests of younger donors. Explore sponsorship opportunities to enhance the visibility and credibility of the impact store.
Stewardship
- Work with the Director of Philanthropy & Communications to develop strategies for approaching individual donors to achieve revenue targets. Activities include comprehensive annual giving campaigns utilizing direct mail, emails and online fundraising.
- Work with the Communications Coordinator to develop consistent and appropriate messaging for comprehensive campaigns.
- Create draft materials for individual donor appeals such as letters (appeal and thank you letters), scripts, and response mechanisms.
- Conduct prospect research for the purpose of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual donors.
- Work with the Communications Coordinator and Director of Philanthropy & Communications to facilitate website updates related to promotion of giving and stewardship within their portfolios.
- Participate in the development of key donor messages in relation to special events (i.e., SNAP and donor cultivation and/stewardship engagements.).
Administration
- Working with the Director of Philanthropy & Communications, provide input in the budget planning process.
- Provide updates and forecasts to the Director of Philanthropy & Communications for inclusion in reports to Management and the Philanthropy & Stewardship Committee of the Board, as required.
- With support from the Director of Philanthropy & Communications, create an annual Work Plan, setting goals, metrics and timelines related to their portfolio.
- Ensure donor pipeline progress monitoring is completed, including tracking of fundraising performance for the Individual Giving portfolio.
- Ensure timely fulfillment of all tasks including submission deadlines and reporting requirements, ensuring that timelines are met.
- In addition to compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, the incumbent is also expected to behave ethically, demonstrate competence in effective communication and team building.
- Adhere to the Fundraising Code of Ethics and Donor Bill of Rights.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum three (3) years progressive fundraising experience with a proven track record of successful relationship and revenue development. (Or other relevant experience).
- College/University degree in Fundraising Management or related discipline is an asset.
- Demonstrated success in donor development planning, proposal writing, donor solicitation, and stewardship.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of Canada Revenue Agency guidelines regarding gift administration and issuing of charitable tax receipts.
- Ability to utilize and maintain a donor database ensuring accurate and complete information on donors and gifts.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, consensus-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
- High level of technical literacy with Microsoft Office Suite and Raiser’s Edge.
- Knowledge of and adherence to AFP’s Code of Ethical Principles and Standards.
