Manager, Annual Programs
Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice-President, Events, Annual and Operations, the Manager, Annual Programs develops and leads the execution of all fundraising, data and donor management strategies for the annual giving portfolio of programs. The annual programs portfolio currently includes direct response (mail, online and phone), monthly giving, mid-level giving, tribute giving, and staff and volunteer giving.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation of annual giving experience, is comfortable with and successful in supplier management and is highly detail-oriented. A strong communicator, verbally and especially written, they are able to work independently and enjoy collaborating with others.
This is a Temporary Full-Time contract covering for an incumbent going on maternity leave for 13 months.
Programs Management & Fundraising Execution
- Manage the development and execution of all direct response fundraising appeals for single gift and monthly donors across mail and face to face channels including providing day-to-day management and oversight of agencies and vendors who support these programs.
- With the Vice President, Annual, Events & Operations, help to oversee the activities of the Annual Programs Coordinator.
- Oversee Tribute Giving (In Memory, In Honour, ECHOage and Grateful Giving) fundraising activities, which will be executed by the Annual Programs Coordinator.
- Oversee and execute – with the help of the Annual Programs Coordinator – all day-to-day activities required to support the programs in the Annual portfolio including stakeholder management, program and appeal analysis, fulfillment and inventory management.
- Working in collaboration with our communications team, oversee marketing, promotion and collateral development for the annual programs portfolio.
- Support the Vice-President with the day-to-day tracking and reporting of budgets and key performance indicators against goals to ensure the prompt identification of challenges and solutions to ensure the achievement of fiscal targets.
- Working with database management colleagues, oversee data management needs for the Annual Programs portfolio including direct mail lives review.
- Working with the Vice-President, develop annual revenue and expense budgets for the Annual Programs portfolio.
Mid-level Giving
- Work with the Foundation’s direct response agencies to execute the mid-level ($1,000 – $9,999) donor plan, with administrative support as required from the Coordinator, Annual Programs and internal support re. building donor relationships.
- With the help of the Annual Programs Coordinator and the Vice President, manage relationships with partner businesses in cause marketing programs and develop updated programing / strategies to secure new partnerships. Solicit participation from businesses and create and distribute required toolkits and collateral.
- Create and maintain relationships with local Business Improvement Areas, manage a portfolio of small businesses capable of giving at the intermediate level
- Manage portfolio of existing service and community organizations and identify new prospective organizations for potential partnership, develop cultivation strategies.
Digital fundraising
- Lead strategy to incorporate digital communications into Annual Giving, creating multi-channel renewal campaigns.
- Work with colleagues and external vendors to execute acquisition-focused digital fundraising campaigns.
- Work with colleagues in Stewardship to build strong digital donor journey programs in support of retention efforts.
Donor Management
- Complete thank you calls / cards to annual donors who make single or cumulative annual gifts at the mid-level range ($1,000 – $9,999).
- Oversee execution of all donor engagement activities for high-value constituent groups.
- Work closely with Foundation colleagues to support newly implemented donor pipelining processes and ensure a donor-centred approach to migration between Annual, Major Gifts and Planned Giving program portfolios.
Other
- Assist in identifying grateful patient stories by supporting to screen prospective stories.
Education
- University degree, or equivalent education and relevant work experience.
Experience
- 5+ years of progressive direct response fundraising experience, preferably in a healthcare. environment and knowledge of current best practices in the industry.
- Experience with CRM systems and ideally Raiser’s Edge.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using Adobe InDesign a strong asset.

The salary range for this role is $80,000 – $90,000
