Manager, Prospect Development
United Way Greater Toronto is looking for an experienced, strategic, and analytical Manager, Prospect Development, to join our team at our Toronto office.
Reporting to the Director, Comprehensive Campaign, the Manager, Prospect Development is responsible for prospect identification, prospect research, prospect analysis and strategy, records management, and conducting competitive intelligence to ensure a strong pipeline of major ($10,000+), transformational, and planned gift prospects to support UWGT’s mission work and campaign goals.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the systematic and proactive identification of potential individual, corporate, and foundation major and transformational gift donors using research techniques, including online databases, websites, and other sources of public information
- Analyze and synthesize donor and prospect information to assess financial capacity, philanthropic interest, giving propensity and connectivity
- Provide informed recommendations about Prospect Management, developing strategies and processes to support the moves management cycle, and related prospecting activities.
- Compose profiles with wealth indicators, peer screening reports, briefings, and research summaries for fundraisers and volunteers, interpreting research for different leads as required
- Participate in maintenance and enhancement of the pipeline forecasting, account assignment, and portfolio management processes
- Perform in-depth environmental scans, trend research, reputational scans and provide support for key organizational initiatives and projects
- Conduct media scanning to monitor relevant news, people, events, issues, and trends that can impact fundraising strategies, and suggest actions for follow up
- Contribute to a strong data integrity and quality culture, developing and maintaining major and transformational prospect research information in the Salesforce CRM, conducting data quality control reviews for donor/prospect records and assisting the fundraising team with data quality, improvements and automations within the CRM
What you’ll need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in library sciences, liberal arts, information management, business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three years experience with prospect research and management in a fundraising environment
- Experience in Salesforce use and administration, with proficiency in data management
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated detail-oriented approach with a commitment to data integrity and accuracy
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects with minimum supervision
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and constituent service skills including the ability to work respectfully and inclusively with a diverse employee population and multiple stakeholders
- Willingness to actively contribute to the organizational equity framework through participation in learning opportunities and implementing anti-oppressive, and anti-racist learnings into action internally and externally
