2018 AFP Greater Toronto Chapter Outstanding New Fundraising Professional Award Recipient – Nayeon Kim

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Toronto Chapter is pleased to announce Nayeon Kim as the recipient of this year’s Outstanding New Fundraising Professional Award.

Nayeon is currently the Manager, Corporate Donor Relations at United Way Greater Toronto where she lends her expertise in corporate partnerships, individual giving and special events programs. Since joining the organization in 2013, she has effectively managed over 400 workplace campaigns across 17 different industries – engaging with 15,000+ donors and over 600 volunteers.

In the past year alone, Nayeon exceeded her campaign goals by raising $600K over target and $6.8M in total with some of United Way’s largest corporate partners. Nayeon works collaboratively with CSR professionals in large corporations to build meaningful and innovative partnerships, connecting the private sector with opportunities to create positive change in the community.

Prior to joining United Way, Nayeon worked as a Resource Development Officer at UrbanArts where she contributed to a variety of youth programs by securing grants and managing all fundraising streams.

Nayeon is an innovative fundraiser who has demonstrated excellent leadership, relationship-building, and strategic thinking throughout her career. In April, she was awarded an AFP Fellowship in Inclusion and Philanthropy for championing diversity in fundraising and for her efforts leading inclusive, community-focused campaigns.

A graduate of the University of Toronto’s International Relations and Peace & Conflict Studies program, Nayeon has continued to pursue professional development opportunities in project management, fundraising, communications, and marketing strategy. She was the first generation in her family to attend post-secondary education and is a committed, life-long learner.

Outside of her professional and academic accomplishments, Nayeon has taken an active role in her community, contributing to the Development Committee of Anduhyaun and the Reel Asian Film Festival. She has also been a mentor for TRIEC, United Way’s netWORKS program and Youth Assisting Youth’s The Peer Project. When she’s not busy fundraising or volunteering, Nayeon enjoys travelling, documentary films, and checking out local farmer’s markets.
