Is This You?
Are you motivated by the opportunity to positively impact mental health for young people in Canada? Are you passionate about helping youth navigate the complexities of growing up in today’s technology-driven world? If so, Kids Help Phone is looking for dynamic individuals like you to join our team.

At Kids Help Phone, we’re on a transformational journey to change the landscape of youth mental health in Canada. This is an opportunity to be a part of something truly meaningful and to make a real difference in the lives of young people. It will take courage, resilience, and a commitment to helping fuel this transformative journey.

The Opportunity:
Kids Help Phone is seeking a strategic, dynamic, and results-oriented leader dedicated to shaping exceptional event and partnership experiences that resonate with KHP donors, prospects, volunteers, corporate partners, and the community at large.

As a senior member of the Advancement team, you will lead and influence a team of event fundraising professionals in the development and execution of KHP’s national signature events, Ontario-based partnership events, and new revenue-generating opportunities. This includes acquiring new and expanding current corporate partnership events, securing new corporate cause marketing and employee engagement programs to enhance KHP’s fundraising impact.

This role is also accountable for growing and strengthening KHP’s Independent Fundraising Events (IFE) program, which includes overseeing operations, financial monitoring, promotional campaigns, and strategic resource allocation to maximize revenue and engagement.

Working closely with other members of the Senior Advancement Leadership Team, you and your team will support the execution of key KHP events and partnership activations that foster deep relationships with donors, prospects, and volunteers.

Not only will our successful candidate be a strong leader and manager, but they will also be a driver of a positive work culture, skilled in managing up to senior leadership, and influencing cross-functional teams beyond their direct reports. The Advancement Director, Events & Partnership Experiences will be both collaborative and strategic, leading their portfolio with innovation, excellence, and energy to unlock new revenue streams and enhance KHP’s national fundraising impact.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the Events & Partnership Experience portfolio, driving revenue growth through strategic event execution and corporate development (cause marketing and employee giving) to achieve financial and fundraising goals as outlined in annual plans.
  • Develop and oversee event strategies for KHP’s National Signature Event, BMO Walk so Kids can Talk and Ontario-based partnership events, ensuring a robust sponsorship, corporate partnership, and volunteer engagement strategy is in place to maximize fundraising impact.
  • Identify and acquire new revenue-generating opportunities through partnership events, corporate sponsorships, cause marketing campaigns, employee giving initiatives, and innovative event-based fundraising models.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on event fundraising and partnership activations, providing strategic leadership to the Advancement team and ensuring alignment with organizational fundraising priorities.
  • Develop and implement scalable processes, tools, and templates to execute flawless events and partnership activations, while overseeing the training and capacity-building of cross-departmental staff to enhance event performance.
  • Support the optimization of the peer-to-peer fundraising system to enhance engagement and revenue for the BMO Walk So Kids Can Talk and Independent Fundraising Events (IFE) program, ensuring these platforms are leveraged effectively for donor acquisition and retention.
  • Lead and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, providing coaching and performance management, and ensuring team members are thriving in their roles while delivering on ambitious fundraising goals.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and report on financial and operational performance metrics, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for continuous improvement to enhance revenue generation and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Brand & Strategic Communications (BSC) team to develop and implement integrated marketing and communications strategies that drive awareness and participation in fundraising events and partnerships.
  • Build and maintain essential cross-departmental and external relationships, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders, including the Advancement Director, Regional Philanthropy, whose team is responsible for executing events in Western & Eastern Canada.
  • Embody Kids Help Phone’s vision and values, serving as an ambassador for the organization both internally and externally, fostering meaningful connections with donors, partners, and volunteers to advance KHP’s mission.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Post-secondary education or a Bachelor’s degree in fundraising, business, marketing, nonprofit management, event management, or a related field; a combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in event fundraising, corporate partnerships, sponsorship development, or nonprofit revenue generation, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of securing and expanding revenue streams through corporate partnerships, sponsorships, cause marketing, and peer-to-peer fundraising.
  • Extensive experience leading large-scale events with multi-million-dollar revenue targets, as well as expertise in corporate fundraising, sponsorship acquisition, employee giving programs, and cause marketing.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to cultivate strategic partnerships and execute fundraising initiatives with corporate sponsors, donors, and community stakeholders, leveraging influence to secure funding and long-term engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams/event budgets, revenue forecasting, and financial performance metrics to ensure fiscal accountability and sustainable growth.
  • Strong leadership abilities, including team management, staff coaching, and fostering a high-performance work culture.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, as well as peer-to-peer fundraising platforms (e.g., Raisin) and event management software.
  • Forward-thinking approach to technology, with expertise in data management and fundraising software to enhance donor engagement and event efficiency.
  • French language proficiency is considered a strong asset.
  • Holds or is actively pursuing the Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation or an equivalent certification (considered an asset).
