The Role:
Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Senior Prospect Researcher is a hands-on, strategic and participative member of the Philanthropy and Partnerships team, providing critical research and data support for overall fundraising, particularly emphasizing significant gifts. The incumbent is an individual who is passionate about strategy, data, analytics, innovative and entrepreneurial thinking, teamwork and communication. They will be an authentic, collaborative and transparent team player. They will bring a combination of passion and commitment to equity to their work that supports our Hospital’s bold strategic vision to revolutionize healthcare. They will manage and oversee best-in-class research systems, products, processes, and protocols to support the achievement of the Foundation’s revenue and activity targets.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct, complete, and deliver prospect research deliverables to meet the needs of the philanthropy and partnerships team, with the ability to interpret and explain research findings.
- Identify and interpret financial and wealth indicators and provide preliminary giving capacity using internal and external resources and tools.
- Proactively identify new donors to identify and qualify prospects, including data mining, media alerts, and relationship mapping.
- Analyze data and provide input and strategic insights to inform appropriate and timely qualification and solicitation strategies for individuals, corporations and foundations.
- Conduct advanced research functions such as relationship mapping, capacity calculations, risk analysis, media monitoring, and philanthropic and engagement trends.
- Lead management of pipeline development, health and migration, working with the team to build a robust portfolio and pipeline for front-line fundraisers.
- Oversee prospect coordination and clearance to ensure a seamless process.
- Lead environmental scans related to philanthropy, prospect development, fundraising best practices, peer comparators and institutional data/statistics
- Stay on top of the prospect research trends and best practices.
- Support the Foundation with other priorities and projects, including participation in hospital or foundation events.
- Other role-relevant duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
- 3 – 5 years experience in a prospect research role with a non-profit organization.
- Post-secondary education in library science, fundraising or not-for-profit management or equivalent experience
- Proficiency with office, research, communications databases, software, and platforms (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, iWave, GrantConnect, NXT)
- Working knowledge of relevant privacy legislation and ethical obligations under the Donor Bill of Rights and APRA’s ethics and professional standards.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written

Salary Range: $70,000 – $82,500. Eligibility for merit pay and comprehensive benefits including Healthcare Ontario Pension Plan enrollment
